    Although many of them are, the above photo is not the commissioning crew. It was taken a year after commissioning in 1968 in the summer of 1969 Alongside (Jetty 5 South) prior to sailing for a trip up the river..

    Hello Roger;

    My name is George Bazoo Byzewski and I am the Secretary of the SAOC(E) here in Halifax. I had the pleasure of hosting Otama as she made a port visit in Halifax in 78 or 79 on here way to Oz from Greenoch. Then in 1980 I spent near 6 months in Watson and Plats for SFCS training. Interesting times they were! Friday prawns and barrels of Toweys still brings a smile.

    It would be my pleasure to arrange a “Soiree” with some of the guys who also went to Oz. You are coming at the “Best Time” of the seasons. Warm and usually fair weather. Warm being a relative term.

    I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
