Who We Are
SAOC (East) is one of three regional branches of the Submariners Association of Canada. Our membership includes submariners from across generations of Canadian submarine service, from those who served in Oberon-class to today’s Victoria-class community.
Our History
The Submariners Association of Canada (SAOC) was established in 1995 by a group of retired submariners in British Columbia. As East and Central Branches were formed, the original organization became SAOC West, with the three Branches sharing the SAOC name and badge.
Canada’s submarine community has a history stretching across generations of boats, crews and service. Much of that history has been collected and preserved by Brian Lapierre, a longtime SAOC (East) member and former Secretary, whose contributions to For Posterity’s Sake have created an invaluable record of Canadian submarine service.
How We Operate
SAOC East is a member-driven, not-for-profit led by an elected executive. Members meet monthly to conduct association business and make decisions about the direction of the association.
