Today, the Submariners’ Association of Canada (East) connects nearly 150 serving and veteran submariners, maintaining a community that spans generations of Canadian submarine service.
SAOC (East), based in Halifax, holds regular meetings and social events, supports submarine heritage, undertakes community projects, and maintains a close connection with Canada’s serving submarine community.
The Submariners’ Association of Canada (East) brings together serving and veteran submariners, maintaining the friendships, traditions and camaraderie of Canada’s submarine community.
Our roots in Halifax date back to 1979, when former Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Navy submariners established the Canadian Branch of the Submarine Old Comrades Association. It gave submariners a way to maintain the friendships, traditions and camaraderie forged through submarine service.
In January 2002, the organization became the Submariners’ Association of Canada (East), carrying that tradition forward for new generations of Canada’s submarine community.
